Paper Plates or Your Own Dishes...

*Is it cheaper to buy paper plates or use what you have and then wash them afterward? I have to admit, sometimes, it would be a whole lot easier if you are having a lot of people over, but it seems such a waste of money. And really, what does it say to your guests if you are simply handing them a paper plate? Yes, it probably takes more time to set everything out and then when all you want to do is crawl into bed after the party is over... you have a sink full of dishes... but your buffet table looks so much nicer if you have pretty dishes waiting for your guests. And in case you are wondering, a lot of my serving dishes have come from Good Will... they are amazing for things like that lol... and no one ever guesses where they came from. I tell them that they belonged to my great aunt... or hubby's grandmother and then wait until their eyes light up!! Yes, I care enough about my guests to put out the good stuff. ;)

When serving Christmas dinner I use my own plates but I would not be offended if I ate at somebody else's place and they gave me paper plates.

I wouldn't either. I feel if the person wants to use paper plates that is their choice.

I always feel a bit extravagant and wasteful if I use paper/plastic plates. And I'm lucky to have a dish-washer which is very useful if we have a few guests for a meal.

Sometimes I would not mind the paper plates but I usde our regular dishes. In the summer I try to use them more with us being outsidd more and doing a lot more fun stuff.

I like the look of real dishes. I'm not a fan of paper plates for entertaining.

I always opt for dishes... I don't like eating from disposable dishes. And I know there are many people out there who feels the same way I do... Why serve with paper plates then?
