Former Texas Rangers left handed starting pitcher Derek Holland, 30, on Wednesday has signed a one year, $6 million dollar contract with the Chicago White Sox according to Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News. Holland became a free agent with the Rangers did not pick up his $11 million dollar team option to pitch for the team in 2017 since he has not made more than 30 starts in the regular season since 2013. The Pittsburgh Pirates were interested in signing Holland to a baseball contract as well as the White Sox. Holland wanted to return to pitch for the Rangers in 2017 if the price was right before he signed his new contract with the White Sox who are currently in a rebuilding stage going into the next baseball season.

If Holland can put together a solid season, he can cash in next season.

From a playoff team to a rebuilding team will get Derek to regain his pitching form to his best years once again.
