Best cures for bronchitis

Well, I seem to have come down with bronchitis, or something like it. Day before yesterday I had a burning in my lungs, a tickle in my throat, and a wakeful night. Yesterday I was coughing all day and had a bit of a runny nose. I treated it with tea and garlicky chicken soup that Dear Partner made for me. Today I made it to the store, and was able to pick up all my favorite remedies. They are as follows: Generic Afrin to keep my nasal passages clear, so I don't get a sinus infection too Hot showers as needed to loosen things More chicken soup PRN (as needed) Tea with honey and lemon And the best thing for my throat, it actually works better than commercial cough syrup, is 90 proof peppermint Schnapps to soothe my throat. The fumes help clear my longs too. I'm feeling a lot better now.

@Jessicalynnt Hard to tell, but it makes my throat feel better and vitamin C is rarely a bad thing.

Oh, indeed. I'm dosing with something like that. In my case it's Redoxon vitamin C effervescent tablet in hot cider mix (not hot enough to deactivate the vitamin C) but that's similar.

I can mention another...shift to a place of higher altitude..away from pollution and take some homeopathic medication. My father used to suffer with it ..sit through nights till we shifted here..now not a single attack since last 11 years!

@vandana7 I'm definitely glad he's feeling better. That's the main thing. Just getting into clean air can be amazing! There are certain parts of my country I can't go into anymore without my lungs burning. My lungs are rather wimpy, they like really clean air.

I'll take the advice with the altitude, and actually have done so - I'm at about 3,000 feet. I'll never in a million years take anything homeopathic. I respect herbal medications and naturopathy but homeopathy is utterly worthless and I can prove it. Unfortunately homeopathy gets mixed up as a term with other medications, and people use the word when they mean naturopathy.

Okay, that could be good for killing bacteria - I'm getting a similar effect by megadosing with vitamin C. I wouldn't mind drinking the cider vinegar, but I'm not going out of the house again today.

Yeah - I'll be working that day, so I really don't want to be sick. And I especially don't want to be sick this coming week, since I talk for a living!
