In Brazil, everything is taxed, seriously, everything! They just have not taxed yet the air we breathe. For you to have an idea, I'll put some products that are popular both in the US and Brazil, and the comparative price.

like i was telling a friend from sao paulo-america is no better.
my water bill alone has 14 different charges on it..and the water tastes horrible for the price.healthcare? forget about it.
your US minimum wage is a little off-most people i know on average get $800 if they're lucky-employers here often are giving only 25 hours per week so they can screw you on insurance and overtime..
