And Speaking of Cold......

I'm not cold at all here in Southeastern Florida. I thought I'd throw that tidbit in for the heck of it. My ice princess doesn't mind the cold at all. My daughter-in-law sent me this photo of how a little snow and cold won't stop my granddaughter from her early morning figure skating practices. My granddaughter wasn't the least bit concerned about the drive to the rink, because they have a new SUV. It was a different story for her mommy. I'm relieved that they are safe and sound. Have you ever had to drive in the snow or ice? I have, and it's no picnic.

I've never driven in the snow Wouldn't want to try! Glad everyone is safe :) Your grand daughter surely loves the cold so she can go to her ice skating practice!

Don't drive in it if you have to. It's awful, even in an SUV. I think it is colder ice skating than standing outside in a down coat and boots! Brrrrr! I freeze at the rink even in June.

@DianneN It snowed in 1989 I believe it was but not since then-I wish! We used to live in NC where it did snow a few times a year.

@LovingMyBabies Snow would be fun for your kids, but not for driving. Yes, it snows a bit more the further north you go. Look out by the time you hit New England! Lol! You know that's why I'm here in beautiful, sunny, and warm Florida!

Yes, I'm happy I'm here, nice and warm. My granddaughter doesn't mind the cold or ice one bit. She skates almost every day, sometimes twice a day.

Lol - I love that first sentence. Yes, I've driven in ice and snow quite a lot, but we don't get the extreme conditions that North America gets. Lovely pics.

Kool photo, she's a real cutie. Yep, over the past 40 years we've had a few occasions where I've had to drive in snow and ice, luckily not too often. Where I live it doesn't snow or get cold enough for ice very often but when it does it's a doozy.

I spent many years living in NH, MA, and CT. I drove many miles in many treacherous winter conditions. I am glad that here in NC we don't often see snow or ice in abundance and very rarely have to deal with it on the road.

@DianneN I lived in Suffield for nearly 7 years. My wife's family owned a farm there. Perhaps on your way north next spring we can try to arrange to meet for lunch near the Smithfield exit. There are many restaurants in the area now.

@DWDavis I know where Suffield is. Beautiful area. Unfortunately, we fly now. We bought a car last March to leave at our condo. My husband got sick of driving. I'm so sorry! However, I will message you if we are in that area for a vacation. Let me know, too, if you feel like visiting Florida.

You should be a pro by now after driving in those New England states. Where in CT did you live? If you once told me, I'm sorry that I forgot. I still remember passing your exit off the highway in NC. Too bad we couldn't meet.

I do not drive, but I have been on the passenger seat many times while my husband drove through ice and snow. We even were blocked on a toll road for 7 hours during a winter blizzard. Not very funny.

This Florida boy experienced driving on ice the very first time I ever visited Canada, and had absolutely no clue what to do when the car started spinning out of control on the icy roadway. Luckily, all the smart Canadians had stayed off the roads that day, so there were very few other cars on the roads as we kept spinning out of control over and over again.

@DianneN I was 18, and it was the first time I had ever seen snow or driven on ice. It was a big learning experience for me. But after being there for 11 days, I finally got the hang of it toward the end of the trip. It was quite fun tapping the brakes about a half mile away from where you wanted to stop, and then sliding the rest of the way there and hoping you timed it well enough to actually stop sliding where you wanted the car to stop!

@DianneN That's a cute name, Ice Princess. I was fortunate in that my kids didn't need braces because I was really worried about that with me being a divorced Mom. As soon as I would get to work, I would start worrying about driving back home when the work day was over. I would worry about it all day.

Yes, and after many swerves and close calls I now am officially paranoid about driving in really bad weather. If there's a snowstorm- I either stay home or get my husband to drive if it's not too bad. Didn't have that luxury whenever I used to have to go out to work!
