My husband doesn't make much every month so money is always tight. I wanted to share how I make sure we always have a great Christmas every year. Anyone can do this whether your tight on money or not. My husband gets paid once a week. I take $5 every paycheck and go to Walmart and buy a piece of clothing or a toy for one of my oldest kid and then the next week I take $5 and buy a gift for my youngest and so on and so on. After I buy it I put it up in the closet and save it for Christmas presents! Do this for a few months and you will have a nice Christmas! You can also pick one thing you bought to use for your kids birthdays as well! Hope this helps! Merry Christmas everyone!

This is a very good idea. When my wife and I were first married, after our first son came along, we would put $5 a week into a Christmas Club account at our bank. I don't know if they even have those anymore. Come December we had enough set aside for a nice Christmas. The account also earned interest, which added a tiny bit more. Those were back in the days when you could get 4 or 5% interest on a savings account.

That is such a smart idea! Thank you! With 4 children and one more on the way this way of doing things will help so much. =)

It´s a wonderful idea! I did something like that when my husband was alive, but I saved it for holidays. He could only go somewhere when the work was low and of course, he did not have much money. But then came the fairy wife and siad that she´d put away for that during the good months.

That's much better than buying it all at once.

That is a great way to plan. And one can buy certain groceries ahead for baking too. So, the meal isn't a huge expense all at once.
