Traditions on New Year's Day & Celebrating it Abroad

My family has a tradition that on New Year's Eve, everybody should already be at home. It's connected to our belief that we will always be together throughout the year if we start it on the very first day. But being in another country on New Year and experiencing other country's NY culture is really exciting. How about you? Any traditions you have on New Year's Day? Are you celebrating it at home or abroad?

That's really nice. We don't have any tradition as such yet I really like the way you people celebrate. Oneness togetherness.

@strawberry8 I don't live in New York. I'll be home here watching it on television. I don't think I would like to go to Times Square on New Year's Eve. Too crowded for me.

I'll be home for New Year, we never really make a big deal about New Year anyway. Plus I hate crowded places so I prefer to just stay home and enjoy the time with my family.

Being with family and just eating together, relaxing on the couch, or talking nonstop on New Year is a fun idea for me to start the New Year :) Enjoy it with your family and Happy New Year in advance!

That's a nice tradition. When it is New Year's day, my family also has the similar tradition as yours. All of us should be at home. At night we lit up or watch fireworks together, and blow our own trumpets. That's so exciting, too.

How ever you celebrate I hope you have a wonderful and safe one. We normally spend the evening at home with some good movies a nice dinner and a few coctails for the adults then we stay up and watch the ball drop at midnight.
