Slow and steady. Steady and slow. No braking if at all possible. Steady hand on the wheel. That was my roommate this morning. What a horror. Misty white fog settled over white snow shrouded roads. Ice below that snow on that road. She did it. She got the hubster to work. Fifteen minutes late but who cares? She got him to work. We are hoping that the roads will be worked on by the time the evening commute rolls around.

Your friend sounds like a real godsend when there is snow and ice around.

@JudyEv Indeed she is. I have driven on stuff that scared the liver out of me. At this point I am pretty burnt out on such driving.

@JudyEv She said some very colorful words about today's commute that I won't repeat here.

@sallypup As she is obviously very expert, I'd be encouraging her to drive too. :)

That's one of the things I liked about working swing shift. By the time I hit the roads to go to work they were pretty much taken care of. Coming home they weren't always in the best shape but then I was in no hurry to get home. Also since I didn't have to get up any earlier I could leave for work earlier than normal without losing any sleep.

@RichardMeister That sounds like a plan. It appears that the road crews don't get off their duff very fast here, when it comes to making roads decent.

@RichardMeister I'm glad you have decent road crews. The parking lot at Walmart was sloppy slippery this morning. Roommate and I carefully picked our way in while others were practically running. I really can't chance a fall.

@sallypup They seem to do a fair job here. The snow plow comes by and the other night there were a couple of road grader that went by and turned around and went by in the other direction. But it's kind of sloppy out there right now.

I hate driving in the snow. I hope they clear it all up soon.

That's good to hear. Hopefully the road crew will get out and make the roads driveable for the evening commute.

Have driven in those kind of conditions and you do need a really steady hand to get you through. See if they treat the Roads after and you can get back safely.

@sallypup If they are still in that condition take a lot of care as I have driven on them not that I cared to then but I had no choice. Once I was jammed in between a load of lorries and Coaches all trying to overtake each other. I took it easy what else was I going to do? Certainly not flap like they did.

@lovinangelsinstead21 I hope the roads have been worked on since this morning. We're headed back out on them in about half an hour.

@lovinangelsinstead21 We have at least January to get through. Thank you for your well wishes. The idea of being in such a scary situation and with huge monsters like lorries and coaches fighting it out. Oh that's awful. I'm glad you are still here to tell me about it.

@Jessicalynnt Grand solution and one in which the boss would have to trust the worker.

Hope they clean it up fast. That is a dangerous condition indeed.
