I got my tamales after all

I have discovered a love for proper tamales. I kind of wanted a couple for Christmas but didn't think I was going to get any. Then I took an extremely rare trip to Circle K (usually I'm a QuickTrip girl if I need a fast snack) and saw they actually had tamales. They were a dollar each, wrapped in corn husk and inside a plastic sleeve so they could steam on the roller grill. I got those and brought them to work with me, as I was working overtime then - wanted to give the day of to people with families. The tamales were actually tasty!

Maybe I'm spoiled from having home made tamales, but I really hate the store ones.

I can understand that - it's why I was surprised that these were good! The others I've had were essentially home made.

We know someone who sells tamales that she makes. Very tasty and oh I miss them. A dollar a piece is a standard price. I'm glad you landed some good ones.

@Rohvannyn Indeed that is a good price for anything resembling food these days.

Yeah, I've noticed it's about normal - but a dollar a piece is pretty darn good for a convenience store given the usual markups.

Exactly! I could buy some at the carniceria, sure, and a few other places around town. I hadn't had time to do it that morning though, so it was a nice bonus.
