1955 – According to Billboard magazine based on record sales and radio and jukebox plays “Unchained Melody” by Les Baxter and his Orchestra was named the number one song in the U.S. 1965 – The Beatles single “I Feel Fine” and their album Beatles ’65 are certified Gold. 1966 – The Monkees had a seven week run at the number one spot with “I’m a Believer”. The single went Gold two days after it was released and up to today has sold more than ten million copies all over the globe. 1972 – ABC TV aired the very first Rockin’ New Years Eve with Dick Clark. It featured Three Dog Night, Al Green and Blood, Sweat & Tears. 1975 – More Elvis news. Elvis gave a New Year’s Eve concert at the Silverdome in Pontiac, Michigan before an audience of 60,000 fans. For that one night he took in $800,000 which at that time was a world record for a single show by a solo artist. http://www.classicbands.com/day/december%2031.html

Glad you enjoy these posts @JudyEv in the New Year I now have to see what dates I have posted and what dates I could still post in order not to repeat myself.

@RasmaSandra Repeats wouldn't worry me too much as a reader but I know I try to avoid posting stuff twice unless I tweak it a lot.
