Paigea's Matches -a mild rant.

My Candle. Finally

Today I wanted a match. Every time I look for a match, I can't find one. Every time I finally find a box of matches, I put them back in the same place and show my husband where he needs to put them. I keep buying them and I keep putting them in the same place. I don't know where they go? Today I finally found a match . But not the box I was looking for. I put matches on my shopping list. Again. And I took a permanent marker and labeled the spot in the drawer that is supposed to have matches! I am going to hide some matches somewhere else too. Have you ever seen the episode of "The Middle" where Frankie discovers that her husband has a secret stash of batteries? I understand why he did that.

I would definitely find my own hiding place and put mine there where no one else can find them. Something like that would make me scream!

@paigea hahaha Well that's silly! Maybe you'll have to begin writing lists the way I've had to start doing!

@CRK109 I definitely need to use lists. I did 7 mystery shops today. And could have bought matches at a few of them. But it wasn't on the list.

That's a good idea, labeling the place for them. Have you asked your husband where they are? I don't watch the Middle.

@paigea I lost a box of toothpicks at the other house. I found them when I was packing everything up.

@just4him It is funny how things can disappear. I can lose a piece of paper I was just looking at five minutes before!

He couldn't find them either. I have replaced them but I haven't got a box of my own put away somewhere yet.

We don't use matches too often. We have a lighter. What do you use matches for? :)

@paigea Oh I see, hehe! Just curious what matches were used for. Usually we use lighters for candles. We don't have a fire pit or fire place at home.

@infatuatedbby I use matches for my gas stove. I used to have a lighter but didn't like it much.

Mainly to light candles. sometimes to light a fire in the fire pit. I could buy myself a lighter to keep on hand too.

Oh...I can totally relate. Between my husband and two sons, I actually ended up putting up signs to show where some things go. Like dirty/clean dishes, or recycling goes here. It helped a little, but they sometimes still don't put things where they belong.

The last book I read "A cold place" by Gregg Olsen the murderer outlined in his drawers where everything is supposed to go. My drawers are to full of things to do that.

Mine are too. Except for that one space in the buffet drawer. And other than that I am pretty cluttery and my husband is very tidy. lol Just a few things he doesn't put back! Matches and spices are never put back in the right spot! lol

I haven't seen that show, but I completely agree with him. Always keep a secret stash if someone else is moving or using them. I think I would lock them up somewhere. LOL Sometimes I have that problem too. I stopped telling the person where the stuff is. HAHAHA

@paigea Exactly. Besides, now that no one knows where things are I am finding the ones they left in other places and/or ones they bought to replace them.

Other things go missing but not Matches. Lighters are the main thing we use to light anything around here. But other things do go missing and I have no idea where they get to either. A mystery for me to resolve.

I had a few different things I was hunting for today. One I found, the others are still a mystery. And they are not things I can blame on my husband.

My husband puts the matches back where they belong. :-) But I'm constantly losing forks of my silver cutlery. By now I have nine spoons and one fork left. The number of knives is constant. I have no idea what that means.

oh, that made me chuckle for some reason. Where do these things go? My aunt used to find spoons in the ice cream container in the freezer. I don't know where those forks are going. My husband is quite frustrated if a sock is missing when he gets his laundry back. It is usually stuck in a sheet or something. I don't refuse to put it with its mate.

@paigea I have the suspicion that the forks may end in the bin when one cleans a plate before washing it. Yet, I've never seen this happen Yet, it's the only explanation I can think of. I have activated a grammar and spelling checker which amuses me no end. I was just told that I made a mistake. Instead of 'forks' I should write 'folks'! Please read the sentence again. Hilarious!!

My husband puts most things back where they go. Overall, he is better than I am. But matches, when I want a candle. I need my own I think.

@paigea Oh i see . Perhaps noth of you should compromise of where to put it everytime it was used so you won't be looking anywhere when you need it .

Me too. But I bet if I go check right now, the matches won't be there!!! My husband takes them and doesn't put them back. He is so organized with most things so I won't actually rant at him.

Good idea to label the storage. I also had one small problem. Our sugar container isn't tightly closed whenever somebody else uses it, and the ants start coming. I had to label the lid, "Close Tightly" to prove a point. It worked!

Never heard of the Middle but I know what you mean. I searched for a match or a flame thrower to light candles on Christmas Day and NEVER found one. Asked hubby where and he said he knew there was one here but didn't know...He uses the flame thrower on the BBQ in the back yard and I know there must be a huge stash in the garage...
