Right Brained vs Left Brained

January 3, 2017 6:04pm CST
Right Brained people are said to be more creative and artistic. Left Brained people are said to be more calculating and analytical. I don't know the exact parts of the brain that make people draw this conclusion (though it's worth the research) but I do think there are fundamental differences between creative people and calculating people. I consider myself both, because I study music. I was very Right Brained when I was developing as a child and struggled with math. Because of my exposure to music, I believe I was able to train my left brain in a form of ambidexterity. Are you Right Brained, Left Brained, or both? Do you think that it's possible to train the "weaker" side of your brain?

@queenofcats I think I'm right brained because I'm more creative than calculation

@reskyyandi that's great. :) what are you studying for and what do you do for your hobby? I'm a student too, planning to study Business Administration and for my hobbies I make crafts, read, and garden :)

I'm a very analytical and logical person but I'm creative as well. So I'm just like you. I don't play music but I create things for my journal like calligraphy, water color painting, decorating, etc.

@queenofcats I just looked at photos of the people I follow on Instagram. No formal training whatsoever.

Very nice!! I've always wanted to learn calligraphy. I consider myself to have pretty cursive but that's the only extent to it. How long did it take you to learn?

I think it is possible to be both. We all use both hemispheres of our brains. However, one side may be more dominant than the other in people who use one side more. Otherwise, I think it's a myth.

I don't think the terms right brained and left brained are supposed to imply that that's the only side of the brain used! i think it's an extreme generalization that means the exact meaning you wrote :) it's just less of a mouth full to say "right brained" than "more dominant on the right side of the brain"

I think it is to do with what area you are being exposed to. I am a left handed person but I can see I am a mixture of both left and right brain...

Great insight. I was more exposed to arts when I was younger so I think that's why I was better at them until I got older and it was more balanced.
