Do you use an ad blocker?

I've always been opposed to using ad blockers because ads are what keeps sites like this one alive. However I've made one exception to that rule - I always block AdSense ads on my own blogs or sites like HubPages where specific ads are placed on my behalf. That's because I don't want to risk accidentally clicking my own ads and violating AdSense rules. I've run into a problem though. I was using an extension called Ghostery and it was doing a great job, but lately I've noticed that my internet speed has become incredibly slow, and quite by chance I noticed that when waiting for a page to load I kept getting a message saying that Ghostery was loading. Sure enough, when I disabled Ghostery my pages started loading a lot faster, so I've left it disabled. That suits me most of the time, but I'm terrified of clicking my AdSense ads and really need to find another way to block those without blocking anything else. Do you know of an efficient way to do this?

I use AdBlock but I have it disabled on some sites - like here on myLot for example.

@Gina145 I have been using it for several years and it has not caused any problems at all.

@mysdianait Thanks. I'll have to have a look at it. I hope it won't slow my computer down the way Ghostery has been doing lately.

I have no idea what you are talking about. I am lucky I know how to log in to anything. I'm so computer illiterate.

@DianneN It's not important. We all know about the things that matter to us. If I didn't have a blog this wouldn't matter to me either.

No I don't have one. I haven't used one because the same reason to keep sites like this going. Although if I weren't on sites like that then I probably would use one.

Seems like a reasonable truth. I am too lazy to fix them for the other sites any way!

Some sites don't work well if you have a blocker, but we prefer to use one. Not sure what else you can do.

@PatZAnthony I think in certain circumstances I need to use one, but I don't know what to use. I can't go on using Ghostery if it slows my computer down so badly.

@TheInvisibleMan They can be useful in certain circumstances but I think it's wrong to visit a site and deprive it of its ability to earn money from my visit.
