Favorite "Fly" Songs #2 - "Superfly"

Yeah, like this wasn't going to make the cut. #2 in my Favorite "Fly" Songs series is a bona fide classic: "Superfly" by the legendary Curtis Mayfield. Curtis Mayfield had a four decade career, first as a member of The Impressions, and later, a solo career that lasted until his death in 1999. He is in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice (The Impressions and solo,) and he is in the Songwriters Hall of Fame as well. Mayfield is also both a Grammy Legend and Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award Winner. And, twice he has been inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame, for the Impressions song "People get Ready," and the Soundtrack for the movie Superfly. Which brings us to Mayfield's classic album, Superfly. It was quite the success: the soundtrack outgrossed the movie, and reached Top 2 on three different Billboard charts. The title track performed admirably in it's own right, peaking at #8 on Billboard's Hot 100, just four positions lower than the album's first single, "Freddie's Dead." Worth checking out: In 1990, Curtis Mayfield recorded a song with Ice - T called "Superfly 1990." It's really cool! (Info verified by Wikipedia)
