Money Can Buy You A Bed.... But Not Sleep

They said, money can buy you a bed but not sleep.... Yes, that is true but isn't it better to sleep in a bigger bed? Since my parents came home from the hospital in 2011, they had to sleep downstairs. They sleep in a small bed that is semi double in size, I mean, the bed frame is just a semi double while their mattress is double sized. I think you can just imagine how a bigger mattress would fit in a small bed. There is an excess portion. This morning, I told my mother that we will go out to find them a better bed frame so that they can sleep better. She had been planning for this eversince but because they have no extra money, this had remained a plan until today. So, after doing our household chores, we went to the other town to canvass for a bigger bed frame. The first furniture store only carries single and double sized beds, so we had to go to the next. It's good the other had almost all sizes available. They had a wide showroom with different kinds of beds, from wood, to metals and a combination of wood and metal. My first choice was the one with wooden posts and metal frame but when we looked at the stocks, my mother thought twice of having that because the materials didn't look sturdy. So we looked at other options. We saw one with full metal body, posts and frame and my mother liked it so she asked me if we will just get the double sized bed. I decided to get a queen sized bed because it is just slightly higher than that of the double sized. Availing it in cash entitled me to have a big discount so I grabbed it already. They will deliver it at home tomorrow, for free. Mission accomplished! Oops! Not yet! Now, their mattress is smaller than the bed, right? But no worries, I messaged my sister and she said she will take care of the mattress. Hmmmm! Solved! I am excited to see the bed tomorrow. I hope they will deliver it early and I hope it will not rain because they said they will not deliver if it's raining.

Once my mother and I were in a hotel in Rome, Italy. My mother had a bed with a narrow metal mattress and a larger foam mattress on it. No frame around it. She fell out of the bed twice during the night when she rolled from side to side!

Whoa! Yes, they had to put chairs on one side so that my mother won't fall out of bed. I can't wait to see the new bed in their room.

I've been shopping online for different kinds of furniture as well. I wish i can roam around my town or go to the city and do what you guys did. I'm pretty sure i will find something better and cheaper. But for now, i enjoy doing it online. Anyway, congratulations on the new bed. God bless you for taking care of your folks.

I would actually prefer seeing the product before buying especially if they'll cost me thousands. I want to make sure im getting my moneys worth. But it's a little hard for me for now.

Thanks and God bless you too. I hope you can go to the city too, soon and do shopping at the stores... But online shopping is also convenient nowadays. That's also an option for me but my mother really wants to see the items personally...

It's better to have a small mattress to put in a big frame than putting a big mattress over a small bed frame. Surely one would fall off when she changed position and sleep sideways to that part not supported by the bed frame. They must be so proud they have you and your sister to take care and buy these things for them .

Yes, and I'm afraid the old bed might no longer be able to carry the two of them because it is just for one person, ideally. I think they are happy... especially my mother.

@SIMPLYD thank you! My sister already sent the money to buy the mattress but we haven't gone to the store yet because I'm still busy with my online job and my mother understands that.

@brokenbee well, it's good to keep your other siblings updated about your parents and the house, too, so they'll know how they're doing.

@hereandthere Yup... That's why my sister wants me to stay at home, even for a little longer because I am the one who updates her of the needs of my parents. My father contacts her on FB but there are times when he's also hesitant to ask for help.

Yes, I hope so too... My mother tried the one displayed and she said it's sturdy. It doesn't move, and to think, it wasn't tightened enough because they still need to dismantle it before delivery.

When my sister in law's mom was about to be discharge then we gave them our bed and mattress, it's still there. I agree money can't buy sleep.
