Day 131 Proverbs 16:9 Proverbs 16:9 A man’s heart devises his way: but the LORD directs his steps. Your heart, your thoughts, can get you into or out of a lot of trouble. If you paid attention to your parents’ instruction while you were young, you would be able to discern right from wrong. Solomon’s instruction came from his father, David, and he got his instruction from the Law of Moses. Solomon learned that when your heart lined up with God’s Law, the Lord would direct his steps. As Christians, our instruction comes from God’s Word, just as it did for Solomon. The difference is that we have the fulfillment of God’s promise in the provision of a Savior, his Son, Jesus, who came to teach us and guide us into all truth. Every parable Jesus taught, pointed to God, his Father. He told his disciples that when he went back to heaven, he would send the Holy Spirit to further teach them and bring back to remembrance what he taught them. When you allow the Holy Spirit to teach you, he will direct your steps, and you will not falter, but you will be able to help other people know what God’s will is for their lives. It won’t be easy because Satan will do all he can to stop your forward progress in your relationship with Jesus Christ. You will find your way hindered, but if you resist Satan, he will flee. James 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. (KJV) Are you ready to allow the Holy Spirit to teach you what God’s Word says, and allow him to direct your steps? Let’s pray: Father, help me live my life according to your Word, allowing the Holy Spirit to teach and direct my steps, so I will know when Satan is coming against me to hinder me from knowing and doing your will. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen. Copyright © 17 January 2017 by Valerie Routhieaux Image courtesy of Pixabay
