He stacked up but what he said didn't

I love those wonderful snippets of conversion I sometimes overhear, little gems from people who may not always realise quite what they have just said. Yesterday I passed two young workers in a supermarket. They were talking about their university studies and one said, 'What I found stressful was Philosophy'. Now, I'm no expert but I would expect it to have the opposite effect...

@RamaSandra @pgntwo Thanks for notifying me about the duplicate posting. It often takes two or three attempts for me to post a discussion here but usually only the last one shows. I spend a lot of time watching that spinning circle and sometimes decide to edit if I have to do it again - including the title. I try to be philosophical about it...

Oh my goodness Philosophy is the worst. It digs deep and there is a lot to remember. I only did Digital Philosophy and...that was rough. That was my very first class in college too and it actually had 5 students to drop out out of the 50 we had. I honestly loved it because of the psychology and history of stuff, but some people cannot handle it especially if it is subjects they do not care for.

@asfarasiknow If a person is a writer, an engineer, someone who is creative or works in a creative environment Philosophy is VERY useful because it makes sure you learn to look through things before just coming up with an answer. It is amazing. Even though mine was just about digital life, it still had regular philosophy in it so it was amazing what we did learn.

Well, I certainly thought so but the responses here from members who have studied the subject in depth suggest that I have a totally wrong impression of it!

Well it might depend on how much a person understands about a certain subject. I took several courses in psychology and I found them all to be stressful because psychology just wasn't my kind of subject and I really couldn't relate to it no matter how much I wanted to know more about it.

I would imagine psychology would be a more difficult subject. It's very disheartening when you sign up to study something and it doesn't match your expectations.
