It is usually served when there are traditional celebrations. It is believed that yellow rice has been served since many generations. In the peak of the celebrations or ritual activity, the rice is cut and divided into several peaces then it is usually offered to some people considered to be well respected. At the end of the celebration, the yellow rice is usually eaten up. Nothing is left.

Is yellow associated with good luck or health? And do they use special moulds to make the shapes?

It is for good luck. No mold is needed to shape it.
