Hey there. I was wondering if you have, personally, ever had a problem with rodents or bugs at your residence.. Anything, such as: Mice, termites, ants, whatever really. Personally, right now I have an ant problem. I have had them for months actually, they have been driving me crazy! When I first got them, months ago, they were quite bad, but for a while, I didn't really notice them too much, then about a few weeks ago, they seemed to be back. So I set up some more ant traps.. Hopefully that will take care of things! :) Image by Pixabay

Oh ants. I love ants lol! Not really. But here we have two kinds of ants: the red and black one. The black ones are those that move quite fast and don't mind the people around them. The black ones don't harm us at all so we let them be. The old folks here believe that if you have lots of black ants on your dining table, it's a sign of prosperity. The red ones on the other hand are what we consider pests. They bite us and it's painful and could even get infected. They move a bit slower than the black ones.

@mawdest I heard from another person in the US that it's actually black ants that bite there and not the red ants. We might have a different variety of ants.

@toniganzon Oh! I do not think I have gotten bitten by black ants but not saying they are wrong either.

The problem I have is with the black ants, haha. Also, I have never heard that if you have lots of black ants on your dining table, it is a sign of prosperity.. That is very interesting! Thank you for sharing that, quite interesting! I know of the red ants! I believe I have seen them before.. Do not remember where, or maybe I just saw it on TV or something, but I thought we get them here too..

We had bed bugs once. Cost us a thousand dollars to get rid of them.

@mawdest - It was, but worth it. Those things are just awful.

We have a ant problem the last few years. No matter what we do we get them. I really think it has something to do with the climate. We had a field mice problem one time because in California they plow all empty fields for summer so they do not catch on fire from dry brush. All the field mice came to our house. They did last long with a few humane traps and a mean German Shepherd who did not like them eating his food. We were able to stop the critters.

@mawdest Yeah and so sneaky, it really made you paranoid. All the more reason I loved that guy being my German Shepherd. He did not play when it came to protecting us.

Darn ants, eh? Also, mice, not good either, ughh! Well, I'm glad your critter problems disappeared, never any fun to have those things around, can almost give you nightmares, really.

I once lived in a place where I had woodrats in my ceiling.

We had our front garden paved and ants moved in. They found a way in through the air vents one year. I had left a piece of melon on the floor overnight and in the morning I turned on the light and saw a line of ants about four metres long and two inches thick, going back and forth from their nest outside, through the wall and to the melon. It was horrific. I'm actually one of these people who love insects and I don't ever want to kill them but I had to get them removed and the vents blocked up so they wouldn't come back. They still nest under the paving stones and I put out food for them well away from the house walls so they don't ever try and find a way back in!

Ah, darn ants eh? Oh my! That is terrible, about the melon thing! Awful ants, ughh! That's cool that you love insects, I actually kind of take a liking to ants and certain other bugs (which makes me feel bad for having killed so many.. which may not entirely make sense) but anyways, point is I get that.. good on you. My ant problem hasn't been as bad lately, but I still have them unfortunately, I think I need to actually get some kind of exterminator or something.

Only with ants, but it's quite rare.

Oh that is not good! Yes, I did not mention it, but growing up in my family house, we had some mice problems occasionally. But we also had cats, so it wasn't too bad, heh.
