We are at #5 in my Favorite Independent Record Labels series, and that label is the British label 4AD. 4AD was formed in 1980 by Ivo Watts - Russell and Peter Kent, as a minor league label for the Beggars Banquet label. If a band did well, they would "graduate" to that next level. You can read the history of 4AD in Martin Aston's book Facing the Other Way. And what signings they were! 4AD rose into a prominent label by releasing a hell of a lot of great music. At one time or another, 4AD has released records by Bauhaus, Cocteau Twins, Modern English, Pixies, Dead Can Dance, and Throwing Muses. And that's just a sample. Starting out as a feeder label for Beggars Banquet, 4AD has absorbed Beggars Banquet with the rights to that label's catalog. Look forward to more great music from 4AD! (Info verified by Wikipedia)

@teamfreak16 Oh wow, very neat! I am jealous that you got to see them, and that you were in Belgium!

@teamfreak16 -- I worked at the post office on Sunday night, but the first thing I did when I woke up Monday afternoon was watch the video tape of 120 Minutes!

I probably saw video's from every one of those bands at some point on that show. I watched it every Sunday night without fail.

I always liked these guys. I love the opening drum beat and those are some pretty good bands to have signed.

You might have, at some point, heard their hit "Melt with You." They sometimes use it in TV commercials.

That is a solid 80s lineup of new wave music.

I know. Could you imagine a day long festival with that lineup?
