With the passing of my cats, it was rather quiet around here, so last October I visited the cat shelter and adopted Gaia. she is about two years old and was found living wild, but she is used to people and very friendly. Having said that, I guess she has had a stressful time of it and for the first month after moving in, she lived under the bed and only came out at night. Then for the following five weeks, I would catch glimpses of a fast moving shadow as she darted around. The Wednesday after Christmas she made her appearance in the front room and has been very friendly and close ever since. I kept her indoors for three weeks after she joined me, but with her mad half-hours involving bouncing off the walls and furniture and being very chatty, I finally let her outside. On her first day she met CJ, from next door, that went okay, but if he gets too close to our door she gets very territorial. I was expecting that and it should wear off as she gets used to him. She does have double standards and when no one was looking went exploring inside CJ's home!

@Ronrybs That's understandable. She will be more comfortable, it is just a matter of time.

Gaia is lovely, I hope she can become less fearful as the time passes. It's nice to have a cat in the house.

@Ronrybs Poor kitty, I think she had a previous stressing experience, but she is recovering.

I think she is settling in nicely. She has already made friends with the lady from next door and isn't chasing CJ so much

She has become quite a talker, but for some reason she won't use the cat flap unless I hold it open for her!

I love the thought of a cat with double standards. It's great that you adopted from a shelter.

More like a bit of a bossy cat! She is still exploring the great outdoors and expects me to open the door for her, as well as the cat flap

It took her a while, but I have to say she isn't that cuddly, she is rather independent!

She won't let CJ in here, but at least she doesn't chase him as much!
