The Horse takes an afternoon off?

I can't believe it, but I'm really doing it. I worked at the preschool this morning. And I got a kid cancellation this afternoon. A friend is visiting from out of town. He was with me when I took this photo. It was on the same route we're going to hike in half an hour. The rain has stopped and there is blue sky. But there are still clouds on the horizon. Perhaps we'll see a sunset similar to this one. Workaholism sucks. But sometimes you just have to give yourself a break.

@TheHorse It is incredible how the position of the sunrise and the sunset change during the year. Not a lot, but enough to be noticed.

Thanks! I was a great short hike. I didn't bring my camera, but the sunset was pretty. Not as spectacular as the one in the photo above (fewer clouds) but quite nice. I noticed that the sun set North of the Golden Gate Bridge, not right behind it. I checked the date on the above photo, and sure enough, it was taken in December, close to Winter Solstice.

@popciclecold I do do a lot of things "for myself" (guitar, etc.), but it still felt good to just "blow off" an afternoon.

The bridge in the photo is called the Golden Gate Bridge. It was constructed in the 1930s. It actually connects Sn Francisco with Marin County.

It was pretty. We heard--and then saw--a great horned owl. Some hikers we met saw three coyotes, but we didn't see any.
