I have friends saying that i should Quit the job i have if a other plave offer me 30 hours this does not exist any more for Non management.this includes all fast foodplaces. All tpye of retail stores including the gas stations. I work like 22 hours a week evening time i had some interviews with those typeof gas station stores but they only are offer liek 4 to 1p hours a week at min wage no joke. My friend who think i go for 30 hours has their own business grow up with family owning a busi2 so they never work low wGe jobs so they just do not understand what it like to work the type of retail stores i work at.

I think you are better off learning a skill in building cleaning. I bet those window cleaners for high rise apartments earn more a week than you earn in a month. Their jobs are very specialize and with considerably risk. Their pay is second only to crime scene cleaning crew. These are the jobs that pay well but with few takers.

@eagletrek2 I think in this case, you have to keep your eyes open, and see who are the ones doing hard labor and yet make big money. There bound to be people who are highly skilled in certain areas but lack paper qualification. These are the ones who can command high pay.

Wow, that is a tough situation. I would keep looking for full time or a second part time that doesn't conflict. My aunt used to dog sit in her home. She earned a good amount. I mystery shop for extra money. It can be planned around my part time substitute teaching.

a lot of service type jobs now seem to not want to give more than 20-25 hours anymore-probably to duck insurance for employees..and the few that do,make combo jobs where you do 2 for one wage (which should be illegal) i've been having the hardest time trying to find a 40,i'm probably going to have to settle for 2 jobs.

That is very true, they keep cutting more and more. Yet, those working full time are lazy. I found one for the gas station full time and I am happy. But it's up and down so I am not sure of the future. But other jobs I've applied for say anywhere from 4 to 25 hours thats a big range for steady hours.

It all depends where you live I guess, but yes there are less options for full time and makes looking for a new jub difficult. When I first started where I work I was told that I would never receive full time as retail doesn't hire full time anymore. But then I moved to the pharmacy in that retail location and was given full time so I guess it also depends on what you are doing in retail. It can be frustrating I guess if you don't like your job and can't find something that provide financial stability!
