I like to live simple. No extragavance unless I have a tree of money in my back yard. To live"comfortably" I would need rent money, grocery, water bill, electricity bill, internet bill, other miscellaneous expenses which are not regular. I am set!

Since I love the outdoors, and go camping and hiking frequently, I would like to think that I could live comfortably with no money at all. But then again, that's easier said than done!

Actually the right concept is to create passive income in excess of your expenses. That is one way that some people tried to do in my country. They bought an apartment for own stay, and another apartment for rental income. They will have to work hard to pay off both mortgages, but once the mortgages are paid off, the passive income from rental apartment should be enough to provide for their retirement. Too bad the rental market is not always good, and many of them chose to buy when the housing price was very high. Now they were under water, and some of them lost their jobs.

@Drosophila The conventional wisdom is that when you have enough passive income to pay your bills, you gain financial freedom. When you have double the income to pay the expenses, you are living comfortably. When you have more than that, you are wealthy.

Right that's great, though I do wonder how much money you need to live comfortably? As opposed to how to go about making money :)

@scheng1 hahaha that's sounds like as long as you're working you're not going to get to "living comfortably". Maybe managing expense is key :)

Hahaha I want to travel every month so I guess 6 digit salary is a must! I am not kidding plus shoes and dresses, laptops and other stuff, bags and jackets. Hahahaha a lot of does and yummy food in different restaurant in Macau, Korea, Philippines, France, Greece etc! Hahahaha lots of those. And of course luxurious life for my family.

This is exactly the sort of question we are asking ourselves as we plan our retirement. We'll be paying cash for a house so won't have rent or mortgage but i suspect we're still looking at about £200 per month for council tax, gas, electricity and water. About £400 per month on food shopping and another £200 or so on insurances and running a car. There's £800 per month just to survive. I think our plan is to try and get by on £1500 per month and if we can't then it's part time jobs. Which is something i would probably consider anyway even if we didn't need the money!

@WorDazza hahaha, I agree. I did take a year off work, and yes, did plenty of reading, writing, learning, exercising, and traveling, and man I was bored to bits. Work finally saved me from developing depression

@Drosophila Only sad, boring people say stuff like that. I will be doing more walking, more reading, more writing, more on-line courses, more exercising, more travelling, learn to play a musical instrument (I fancy drums but Mrs WorDazza isn't keen for some reason!!!). I'll probably volunteer for a local animal sanctuary. Work is what stops me from being busy doing what I want. I won't miss it in the slightest!

I also think I need lots of money to live comfortably and do the things I want to do. It's selfish I know but it's the truth.

I don't need millions to live comfortably. If I earn an amount with which I can fulfill my basic requirements ,it's more than enough for me.

For me not so much, but...I'm single, so my expenses are not so high, and things that I tend to like buying tend to last, like I collect swords and archery stuff, aside from needing new arrows or equipment for building things, I am well, hmmmm, inexpensive person lol.

I think Today everyone want to live luxurious life in the place of live comfortable life where he can enjoy every thing he wants and only through money we can get these all things... after getting thing we again need money to maintain them all to maintain our status in society..
