My friend who's 45 and looking for a job. So not saying she's a big gap age wise. I remember in school learning job searching skills. Most online now a days but such things at the resume, skills, etc. She asked me to check her resume. Now mine pretty basic. I did my experience, training, etc. She's claimed to be looking for a year now with 2 interviews. I told her how I can apply today and get called tomorrow. Many times it resume so I looked it over seems decent. I gave her some links to job search (the main ones). I told her just pluck away apply and get skills. I mean I'll go on interviews whether I want the job gives me advantage and experience. So now I'm thinking it has to be how she acts. She tends to be high strung or the fact she hasn't worked in over 5 years. I got the contact for this local job seeking company it's run by the town and they help yin with work. I finally realize it comes down to she doesn't want to work this lady got her a job and in a week she left. I said I'm not helping anymore I gave the sites and just look thru it apply what you want. She just called me at work crying how she can't find a job. I am standing my ground if I was so called this desperate I'd be working in a factory or at a coffee shop whatever makes money.

There are so many reasons why a person doesn't get hired then she doesn't work for months and that will make it worse. I wish her well.

I told her I will call a girl who works as a job couseler. I think its her interview skills only reason she got the last job was because of me. Basically boss needed a person for limited hours. Before that she hadn't worked in over 7 years. So now she called me and goes I need a job. Well I can't help you no job I work at is hiring. I feel she needs to get it herself, and work on things. Her resume was decent enough, just changed a few (so now she's getting interviews). I told her honestly your starting an extry level retail. She wont drive further distances, she wont open her availability, and she wont work weekends so I can really tell why most places wont hire her. I told her this before, but if she isn't even getting past the interview either its her skills (and yes when I worked at the same job for 9 years then had a professional interview i was nervous and weird).

But she phoned me whining she needed a job. Now its between any job to make money or a perfect job. She told me she's in major debt and needs a job. If I was desperate and had no job I'd do anything and that means washing the floor with a toothbrush.

I hope she finds a job soon. I know it is harder because of her age. She needs more understanding and support because it can be really frustrating. Maybe you could suggest mylot to her, while she is looking for a job, at least she is earning even if it is a small amount and she can be busy with something.

I did suggest it. She turned it down because it was too much work. I don't think she is that old by any means. I think she just doesn't want to try. I know a lady 65 who got a job at Walmart and did courses.
