Turn out the lights, the party's over. That is, it's done with my countdown of my favorite songs with "light" in the title. I swiped the idea from @teamfreak16 (because that's what friends do!), and his series is about to wind down as well. Here's my favorite "light" song. #1: Long As I Can See the Light - Creedence Clearwater Revival Some 45s were made to be worn out. CCR's 1970 single "Lookin' Out My Back Door" was one of those. After my brother wore out the A side, he turned it over and there was this marvelous song. CCR had -- and still has, for that matter -- a reputation for being a "southern" influenced band, despite the fact that they were born on the Bay (San Francisco), ooh! (See what I did there? ) Here they have a little southern soul and blues, with John Fogerty singing his heart out (and playing organ and saxophone). It's a relatively simple message, with the narrator asking the loved one to "put a candle in the window" because he's leaving. The light will guide him home, he knows: "I won't, won't lose my way, no no, long as I can see the light." What a delivery. What a song. Thanks for reading. Long As I Can See the Light Written by John C. Fogerty Recorded by Creedence Clearwater Revival From Cosmo's Factory, 1970 I'll be coming home soon:
Creedence Clearwater Revival Long As I Can See The Light Cosmo's Factory Lyrics: Put a candle in the window, 'cause I feel I've got to move. Though I'm going...

For a band from Northern California, they sure had southern swamp rock down to a science, didn't they! (And I swear I wrote my Dandy Don singing Willie Nelson reference into today's finale before I read this. Great minds think alike!)

It's such an obvious thing to say with a series dealing with songs with "light" in the title.

This is a great song but only one of many of CCRs. They are great to listen to.

You know I think CCR is the greatest American rock band and a favorite so this is great pick.
