Awesome finds for my bookworm

Today after school I took my kids to the library to pick out some movies to borrow. My sons wanted to see what Game Of Thrones is about so we grabbed the first series. As I walked past the table with used books for sale I saw a big bin of children and youth books. I told my daughter who looked and then came running over to me to show me the Legend of Zelda Manga she found and asked if she could have it plus another book which was hardcover. The total of just those 4 books would have been $1.50 so I told her to look through the rest of the books to see if sge wanted any others as she could fill a bag instead for $5 ( Which I would pay for as a gift for her). She managed to find a bag full and even found a card holder filled with Pokemon cards. She made out like a bandit and was so happy! I got myself a V.C. Andrews book. It was hard for me to choose just one book but that was all the room that was left in the bag. I also borrow two books called "The Lost Symbol" and "Inferno" by Dan Brown which are part of The DaVinci Code series. I posted a picture of the books she got today along with the one of mine.

My son is even more obsessed with it then my daughter so I thought he would be so mad when he saw what she got but he was completely fine with it. Hopefully she gets a couple doubles so she can give some to him.

@shaggin That would be great. The kids are all into them again. It is funny how things come back after being gone so many years. My grand daughter now has the ones that her mom had.

@Happy2BeMe I liked collecting the balls and chatacters inside them from mcdonalds happy meals when I was young but they recalled the balls and gave free fries I remember. I was never actually interested in the pokemon series though when I was a teen.

"The Lost Symbol" and "Inferno" by Dan Brown are not part of the "Da Vinci Code", but the main character is the same in every book, the Professor Robert Langdon. I have read all the books.

Oh I thought they were part of the series as it said inside the covers that it is the continuation of something like that to the other books.

@shaggin No, the stories are different and not at all related in any way with the Da Vinci Code, but the main character is the same.

Good deal. I loved getting deals like that at the library when they had books for sale.

I usually never buy books because we can borrow them for free but she loves these manga and wants to start a collection like her father had.

It's nice that your daughter is such a keen reader. So many kids today are only interested in the latest technology and aren't interested in books.

She used to read for about 8 hours a day in the summer years ago. She does still love reading but she is on her tablet a lot more now.

@shaggin I guess it's hard to resist the temptation of modern technology. I don't read as much as I used to either because I spend too much time online. Hopefully she'll never lose her love of reading.

You - or at least your daughter - got a great deal with these books. No wonder your daughter was so happy.

I went to the library to borrow the books by Dan Brown and my daughter wanted to read the first one The Da Vinci code which I had already read. We put it in our like to borrow then found it in the books for sale so she got that one so she can take as long as she wants reading it and get to keep it.

@shaggin We have two of Dan Brown's books on our shelves. I haven't read either. Sometimes I think I 'collect' books rather than 'read' books.

Wow!! This is a great deal. I know I need to find out when our Book sales are here, and go check them out, as I love owning a book I read instead of a Library book in case it takes me a while, and then I can resell it if I wish.

Most libraries around here just have tables set up where they have boxes of books always for sale. Some though do have huge sales for a few weeks during certain times of the year. We usually don't go to those.

I need to take time away from mylot and get some reading done. My daughter needs to take time off her tablet to read. I just listed 3 lots of books she no longer wants for sale on Facebook. I haven't heard any responses though so I may wind up having to list then on eBay.

that was quite a score getting all those books for only $5. I haven't read a V.C. Andrews book in ages but I have read both of the Dan Brown books you got. I love Game of Thrones and can't wait for the new season

I have read a lot of books of V.C. Andrews but I didn't write many of them down. I hope I haven't read Rain as if I did I could chosen another book instead.

My kids and Image read the Harry Potter series as well but she wants to get the whole collection so she grabbed this one to add to the other one she has here. I read the one by Dan Brown but she is interested in it now so she was excited to find that for sale. I think it might scare her. She reads more kid and teen books.

Awesome! As a librarian, let me reccommend mine craft books, also if he's into Star wars, there's plenty there to go on. Has he tried the Michael Very series?

My son isn't as much of a book work as my daughter is. He loves Minecraft books and I think he has one of them. In the summer time he and I read together a lot. During the school year he is pretty busy with school work.
