Uncomfortable Comments in a Workplace

How to deal with uncomfortable comments in a workplace? Are you going to answer back? Or you will just ignore and try to correct it silently? I know that we cannot please everybody. Especially in a workplace where there are some who are just looking for the negatives in their workmates. But if we are going to answer back maybe we will just make things worst. Uncomfortable comments could make you lose your self - confidence and make you feel bad. But for me, I think it is just better to ignore them, be myself and move on.

Sarcasm is the key. Pit a smile on ur face and answer something really witty and double meaning! That helped me a lot of times!

@magallon than you just laugh and go away. And that too, a good natured laugh

@magallon often people who want to pinch you or taunt you, often enjoy themselves when you really do take it to your heart. Don't give them that pleasure..

@JustBhem i have encountered people like them too. Those are the kind of people who are jealous of what you have in life.

@magallon That's possible. People tend to say something to you even if you are not doing anything to them.

I generally ignore nasty comments at work place, specially when comments are being made by the boss. I don't believe in entering into arguments, which could leave a bitter taste in mouth. If a subordinate or equal rank colleague say uncomfortable comments regarding my work, I not only defend myself buy pay him back in the same tone.

@magallon I would say not all men are like it. In my previous office there were women subordinates, who dared to challenge my orders, when I was new at that place.

Men are different from women. Men can't just ignore uncomfortable comments. They really talk back.

I found a peace of mind in ignoring those, as long as they are said behind my back.

Depends on who made the comment. If it was your boss, keep silent. but if it was a co-worker then a witty comeback should give you the final laugh.

It is better sometimes to let it pass. They are just jealous and not happy in their lives..

The normal reaction would be to answer back but come to think of it, it is better to just practice self-control to avoid dispute.

Ignore is good way to keep your positive mind but if it continue then you should try to let those who make uncomfortable comments know that you would like work in peace. If they don't like something you do they can look the other way

What i do sometimes is i talk to them in a nice way. I ask them what the problem is. And if they don't stop, it is better to report them.
