Still Working On It.....

Persistence pays off! At least that's what I have been told. Last week I began sorting and cleaning my sewing room. The four year old with the stomach flu put a stop to that. Worrying about my elderly father put another crimp in my plans. This week I was determined. Almost every day, a part of the day has been spent cutting those scraps into squares. Sorting those now pre cut squares into the appropriate box, and sewing some into quilt blocks....so many colourful distractions..... One bin has been emptied...hurray!!! It was just the smaller one, but it's showing that I've made progress. Today, I will get the remainder put away and tidied....the I need to work on finishing the small quilt I have in progress. The photo shows a quilt block I've been playing with.

It will be a while. I put this together and took a picture so I'll remember the plan when I get back to it.

I'm having fun, but it does seem to be an endless job. There is a lot less to work my way through than there was a week ago. Now I need to finish the small one I'm working on,.

@JudyEv several year ago, I dumped a bin of scraps onto the floor. Then I made three quilt tops out of these scraps.....when the quilts were finished, I put the scraps back into the bin....you could not tell that I had taken anything out of the bin.

@Morleyhunt You must be getting closer to the end but I guess a quilter never gets rid of all the little bits and pieces. They are always making more.

@lovinangelsinstead21 she is learning to embroider and to sew on buttons. At four though, she doesn't like to sit still for long.

I think you enjoyed so much making that quilt. I must commend you for your patience in making that quilt. I don't have the skill and patience though in making crafts like that.

@Morleyhunt But at least your boredom produced something beautiful and useful.

I'm not sure if it started with patience. Many years ago, my first quilt was probably a product of boredom.

This seems to be a never ending job, you must feel tired to take it out all the time and work on it.

The blocks on the picture will probably be all that you see of that project for many months. I have two that I'm working on at the moment that are waiting fo their turn to be featured in a discussion.

Thank you. I cheat a lot, you should see how many pictures I have of quilts and quilt blocks that have inspired or intrigued me. This is often how I come up with my combinations. They could be a compilation of several ideas or they might be an outright copy. My dimensions might not be the same, because often there isn't a frame of reference, but I can calculate the size I need.

i remember the so-many cloths of different designs and lengths and widths that were cut off from the dresses that my mother (+) sewn before. if only i had the initiative to cut them cloths into smaller squares and made them a quilt, then i should be enjoying the fruit of sewing. but i had some crocheted table covers and that is fine for me now

hey, did you come to my house and get into my stash of 2 1/4 inch squares?? Those fabrics sure look a lot like what I have!! LOL The squares were given to me in a popcorn tin already cut. I've been making things with them here and there. Now I see this and wishing I could go get them out and get back to work on something. I have them sorted into 2 pizza boxes.
