Favorite "Party" Songs #9 - "The Party's Over"

Just because I am using the word "party" doesn't mean that this entire countdown is going to be "WHOO HOOO!" Case in point: #9 in my Favorite "Party" Songs series is a sad little ballad from Willie Nelson, "The Party's Over." Willie Nelson has been active in the music industry since 1956, and, you could say, he has had quite a career. The country music superstar is also an actor, and an author. He is also a political activist and organizer (he organized Farm Aid as well as other benefit concerts, and is a staunch pro marijuana advocate. In addition to numerous Lifetime Achievement honors, Willie Nelson is in the Country Music, the Songwriter's, the Austin City Limits, and even the National Agriculture Halls of Fame. Nelson wrote "The Party's Over" in the mid 1950's, but did not record and release it until 1967. The single was produced by the legendary Chet Atkins, and features Jerry Reed on guitar (Velma Smith, Buddy Emmons, Hargus "Pig" Robbins, and Junior Husky rounded out the band, and I will bet you that @FourWalls knows who every one of them are without looking them up! An entire generation of NFL fans became highly acquainted with "The Party's Over" thanks to former quarterback turned announcer Don Meredith's habit of singing the song once the outcome was apparent on Monday Night Football in the 1970's.
