Lunch Date

I accompanied my mother at the tailor this morning to get her pants. After getting it, we went to the city. It was already lunch time when we reached the city so we decided to have our lunch. Our orders were two plates of chopsuey rice (my favorite) and one steamed bun (siopao bola bola). We enjoyed our food but I had seen that there's a beggar outside and everytime I took a bite, he would look at me. I didn't tell my mother yet at that time. After we finished eating, my mother told me that we will buy one more steamed bun for my father. I said okay, and I asked her if she still wants to eat steamed buns at home for our snack and she said yes. I told her I am going to buy 5 and give one to the beggar outside the restaurant. She smiled and said okay. When the waiter came to give our bill, I ordered additional 5 steamed buns and then paid. Then my mother asked why I ordered 5. I told her I am going to give the other one to the other beggar with a little child at the alley where we passed by. She said, we should also give them some drinks. So, I told her to wait for the steamed buns and I will go and get them drinks at the nearby grocery store. When I came back, my mother already stood up because she already had the steamed buns. I put the steamed buns in separate plastic bags and handed the two to my mother and I carried the bag of 3 steamed buns. I told my mother that she will just be the one to hand the bags to those beggars. When she handed their food, I had seen the smiles on their faces and I was almost teary eyed that I can't look at my mother.

That's the right thing to do. Most people just ignore beggars. It feels good when we are able to share to the poor. Chopsuey and siopao are my favorite

@averygirl72 Thank you.. Yup, I think they were hungry. The old man was looking at me while I eat and the other one with the baby also passed by and looked from the glass window while we were there... =(

Such a sweet mother and daughter moment. Sometimes, we really need to have a date with our parents, or if we are already parents, a date with our children.

You are a sweet heart, I cannot believe that there are still people who have nothing to eat when the rich countries throw so much food every day, it is so sad.

@brokenbee Me too. I also like the idea that helping someone in need is what we need.

That was very kind and you will be blessed for that. I can't help beggars all the time but when I can I do!
