April in February

At least that is what the weatherman said in the neighbor state (Alabama) that we have been experiencing this month of February with record breaking temps many days this month. The highs have consistently been in the the 70s and what is known as one of our coldest months February has not lived up to it's reputation.
In fact our last freeze was back in the first part of January and even that was not a hard freeze which means means we can expect a bummer crop of bugs in the coming months. And if February is being called April I wonder what April will be called?

They say we need at least three days in a row with temps staying below freezing to keep the insects and bugs population down. We haven't had that this year only a couple of freezes at night and they weren't hard freezes

I can imagine how the weathers going to be in April. Extremely hot im sure. Must I say I am not ready for that. I would rather be cold than hot. This global warming is crazy!

And here in Hamilton, Ontario, it was 17°C today. That's about 63°F. We broke the highest temp record for this day, which had only stood at 6°C. Flowers are starting to peep up.

We have had similar weather. Our friends in Pensacola will be visiting next month and are laughing about the lack of cool they will find when they get here.

It really was a very odd winter in Florida and back home in Connecticut as well.

It's funny that you mentioned bugs, because I have been fearing the same thing. If we don't get several hard freezes in winter time, we are going to be in for a very bad bug season. Luckily, we just had three nights of hard freeze just a few days ago, so that will help, but I believe we have to have a series of hard freezes to truly make an impact on the bug population. Given the warm winter we've had, I'm not looking forward to summer. The mosquitoes and love bugs are going to be out of control!

We've been having warm weather here in Virginia too. If it's this warm now, I dread what it's going to be like in the summer.
