The twist of banana cue is here, the banana chips. Long was the time when our old folks resort to banana as their favorite snack. Boiled banana and banana cue. One municipality of Ilocos Sur adopted banana as their One Town One Product, the town of Banayoyo have made products from banana that twist into more appealing (with labeling and packaging is concern) and more crunchy... the banana chips. The variety of banana called saba is the one that can be made as banana chip. Simply it is banana fruit sliced and sweetened and fried.... skadoosh, the banana chip. Of course, this is crunchy and sweet... and delicious and nutritious.

Me too, it so happen that banana cheap is not cheap. When you have saba in your backyard, its better to fry it for snack... or better yet, just buy banana cue for ten pesos.

Maybe because of sugar and other ingredients put there, the old version is using 'tagapulot' or mascovado and never white sugar.

It is one of my favorite snacks, but I can't eat it now because am avoiding sweet foods. It can be plain saba alone, one that is not ripe yet.

There are some varieties now also good for banana chips, I just don't familiar with the name but they are bigger fruits than saba variety.
