Canada is February is normally cold and snowy. Some years we are a little short on the snow, but rarely on the cold. This winter has been lacking in the snow department.....at least in the area of Canada where I make my home. The past week has been mild, very mild, very springlike. The sun has provided warmth the snow has all disappeared. We sat outside in t-shirts and left our coats at home. This morning it is rainy and a bit cooler....some snow if forecast for this afternoon......but..... About an hour ago, I spotted a flock of red-wing blackbirds in my front yard.....then I spotted the robins. It must be spring!

I saw my first pair of robins this morning on my way home from grocery shopping. I think that the groundhog was right, this is our early spring.

I saw several that were too far away to be certain....but then I spotted one very near my window. There was no question....it was a robin.

It is warmer than usual over here too. Not good though it is nice but we need RAIN! We have had no snow on the mountains this year and we need it as it becomes water for the spring crops. We will have problems soon I can see.

Those daisies are lovely. It's nearly autumn here.

That photo was taken several years ago when I had a profusion of blooming daisies. Daisies are my favourite flower.

indeed, robins denote spring. so, has the snow thawed there now?

We have had very little snow this winter. There has been a lot of rain, so the moisture is in the ground. Yesterday we had a downpour...,followed by a windy but dry afternoon. It was snowing when we went to bed. That has already melted.

@Morleyhunt but at least your atmosphere there is cold even if it is windy and dry. us here, we have some winds blowing and some drizzles falling, but it is so humid.

We here in the Seattle area have been Colder than most yrs. Even had snow sticking on the ground in some areas. We are so ready for Spring and at least 50 degree days more often. 60 would be even better.

Spring was here too for the past few days. Today our morning sun has disappeared behind storm clouds and we'll get rain and gusty winds this afternoon. Of course the beautiful warm temperatures have disappeared with the sun and we're back to normal winter ones. So far no snow in the forecast though. But, we still have March to get through

March and even April have had some significant snowstorms to my recollection.

Enjoy it while it lasts. Connecticut has been enjoying that mild weather, too. I'm on the lanai in my bathing suit.

The natural world hopefully has more knowledge than us of what season we're in - or can expect.

The reality is..,it isn't unusual to get snow well into April. It just never stays around for long when it arrives so late in the season.

I am seeing the starlings in flocks too, we usually only see those in the fall of the year and Spring.

We see flocks of starlings in the winter as well, so I don't use them as a barometer....the redwing blackbirds usually show up about the same time as the robins. I was surprised to see them. They are at least a month early.

Now don't get too carried away- ha! I livein Canada and yes it's been glorious and mild but I've learned there's always a little price to pay- hope it's not snow storms in March. But, we can smile a bit and work on that Spring Fever as we did make it this far and have gotten away with it- ha!

My sister lives in Calgary and has been waiting for Spring as well. Apparently the roads have been icy and slilppery and she's had a few close calls. I really hope Spring comes soon in Canada.
