Present Moment Living

How important is it for you to live in the present moment and to see and interact with life in its reality rather than how we choose to perceive it with our thoughts and desires?. Have you experienced how living in a moment-to-moment existence, we tend to be more happy and content?

Very nice quote. We tend to live in past and get depressed.. We always feel our better days were in past.. may be after few years we may think today was better day..

That is true, its because our mind can only function in either the past or the future. We do feel that better days were in our past but we tend to miss the much better days that are happening in the present. The past does not exist nor the future, its always the present.

I agrew with this. I balance my life specially for my kids. I plan for the future of my kids ofcourse but i dont let the future take my time to live my present, having quality time with my kids and some me time when my kids are already asleep. And that is also the time where past kickin but i am just getting the learning from those experiences. How about you how do you manage it?

One of the ways I have learned to remain present is to use the breath because the breath is always happening in the present so I keep my attention to watching my breath especially when lots of thoughts come. Another way is to do things slowly and put all my focus on it. For example, when you are eating then just eat and nothing else, do it slowly enjoying in each bite the taste, flavor and texture of the food. When you are having a shower then just enjoy the water as it touches your skin. This can be applied to anything and everything. The one thing that disturbs or destroys our being present is multi-tasking. Its better to do things one at a time so that we can put all of our focus or attention on it and become fully aware and conscious.
