Day 180 Proverbs 18:20 Proverbs 18:20 A man’s belly shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; and with the increase of his lips shall he be filled. 21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof. What you say effects your life more so than what you do. It all starts with what you say and how you say it. How you present yourself in a job interview. How you present yourself to those you want to meet or need to meet. You spend hours preparing presentations that will sell the other person on what you propose. Your decisions decide the direction your life will take. Solomon was a businessman as well as king. He knew how to conduct himself in business to increase his wealth. As king, what he said was life or death to those who opposed him. As Christians, you also have power over life and death. You have power over Satan. With the words of your mouth you can rebuke him for all the trouble he gives you. You have this power because the same power that raised Jesus from the grave lives in you. Luke 10:18 And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven. 19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. 20 Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven. (KJV) Jesus gave you his authority when he went back to heaven. With that authority or power, you can do the same thing Jesus did while he was here. He rebuked demons, raised the dead, healed the sick, and taught the people about the kingdom of God. John 14:12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believes on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. Many Christians don’t do greater things than Jesus, because they have no faith to believe they can. Yet, Jesus told his disciples they would do the same things he did and more, and they did. The apostles did everything Jesus had done while he was with them, and they witnessed to everyone they met about the saving power of Jesus Christ. What is holding you back from doing all Jesus said you could do? It all starts with your words. With your words, you believe. Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Power over life and death is in your tongue. How will you use it? Let’s pray: Father, help me use my tongue to bring life to all those I meet. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.
