All aboard for another song that deals with trains. I have two series going about trains: one that actually has the word "train" in the title, and these songs that are about trains but don't have "train" in the title. Here's the next song from an old favorite.
#4: Southern Streamline - John Fogerty
There is a joyous feeling from a lot of John Fogerty songs, going all the way back to the CCR days. Despite the fact that he's one of our great singer/songwriters of the past 50 years (ouch, does that make you feel old!) he goes through long spells of not releasing albums.
This terrific, country-flavored song (it got quite a bit of airplay on CMT) was from Blue Moon Swamp, which came out 11 years after Eye of the Zombie. I mean, Eye of the Zombie wasn't that great a follow-up to the classic Centerfield, but it wasn't so bad he had to wait over a decade to follow it up!!!
But he did come back, and with a roaring vengeance. This is one of Fogerty's best songs, highlighting the happiness he can emit from a song.

It seems natural for Fogerty to write a train song.
