The Giant Galah of Kimba, South Australia

Some years ago we bought our Leyland Tiger bus over the internet. Unfortunately it was 3,500 kilometres away and south of Melbourne in the Australian state of Victoria. Vince and a friend flew East with reasonable expectations of purchasing the bus and driving it home. The deal was signed and the men started on the long road back.
Australia has a number of 'giant' icons in various towns and at Kimba, in South Australia, they have a giant model of a pink-and-grey galah. These galahs were once only seen in the north of Western Australia but they have now made their way south and are common throughout the state. They are popular as pets and many become quite talkative. Our friends had a one who, when everyone was streaming out the door on their way somewhere, would start screaming 'Can I come, can I come?'
The photo shows our bus, Vince and the giant galah complete with a friendly town dog.

That certainly is a giant galah!! So they talk like a parrot would? Interesting I have never heard of them.

@JudyEv MY aunt ysed to have a parakeet that talked and she let him fly free in her house when she was home and then he went back to his cage. He used to perch on her eyeglasses and say pretty baby which was awfully cute.

@BelleStarr I'm sure 'your' parakeets are 'our' budgerigars. They fly in great flocks up north but still seem to adapt to being 'house' birds.

@fishtiger58 I'll be a bit sad to see it go - but it hasn't gone yet anyway. :)

I found myself pondering how bad a poop would be from a bird that big

It took us a while but we removed all the seats and it is now a lovely motor-home. We did almost all the work ourselves. I'll attach a photo. If you search 'tagged discussions' and type in 'motor home' you'll see some posts about it. There are posts about a different motor-home in Ireland and a third one we hired in South Australia late last year. It is up for sale now as we're getting a bit old for such a big vehicle. There is a double bed behind the curtain at the back. There is a toilet and hand basin one side and a shower the other.

@sunrisefan We couldn't afford to buy a motor-home so we bought an old bus and created our own.

@arthurchappell Pigeons certainly like statues don't they? Everywhere we went the poor old statues were covered in it although this one actually isn't. I just liked the irreverence of the pigeon.
