I went out on a boat this morning - first time ever. We sailed out of a small harbour south of Colombo on my friend's fishing boat and the breeze was warm and stiff. The freshness of everything was so welcome. About a mile off shore Zizo threw out his nets and fussed about the boat doing this and that while I lay on the deck in the shade of the sail that was all puffed out with wind like a gas-bloated stomach. The water was quite choppy and it was hard to relax and trust that everything would be okay, and I was glad to get back to shore just as a thunderstorm broke. I was drenched and the rain drops felt cold in the wind but my clothes soon dried when the storm blew out to sea and the sun and wind took over.
