Elections in India

Elections in India have become more celebrated things than festivals. For one or two month the focus of all of the country is on a single state, the politicians there make it a topic if prestige to win the elections, working 24 hours a day, holding rallies in every possible part of the state, publicising there policies more efficiently than an advertising firm. The news agencies make money by airing special programs based on elections. They do surveys with the help of some organizations and calculate exit polls which are mostly very close to the actual results. But after the elections everyone forgets that state, politicians forget there promises, and go to the place where the next elections are going to take place. They do the same thing there, only the place is different. That's why India is incredible.

@Abidas You're right.Ouright politicians forget their promises once they win the election. But now, with Modi at the helm of affairs, the trend would change. At least I hope so.Our voters are no longer as gullible as they used to be until recently.
