No I do not do my own taxes since I run my own business, I have a CPA and he is awesome. I started these back in January, I figured up all the receipts and all I had to do was list the income and outgoing for each rental house, all the car/truck stuff and the doctor bills, etc. I cleaned it up and made it look nice and readable. I will take it to the office one day this week. This year I went into the red, yep! I lost money this year and dipped into the savings I "had." Only after I was asked a couple times by @TheHorse "what kind of people I was renting to', this made me think. I do not need to have a heart when it comes to the business and I also told Tony he could NOT be involved, I fixed the houses up and sold 2 within the last six months and I jacked up the rent on the others to get people who could afford to rent and not bum me. I am happy to say all of them are filled with working people with no animals. Lets pray this year is a profitable year. Have you done your taxes yet?

I don't pay taxes because I'm on disability, but I remember when I did pay taxes, and I let someone else do them for me. I didn't want to mess with it.

I have always hired someone else to do them, that way they have to answer for me to the irs.

I'm happy you now have better tenants who have jobs. Things should look better for you. No, we have to leave Florida to see the accountant as we do every year. I wish my husband would get one down here, but he refuses to stay more than four months.

We get ours done due to investments and other things that I prefer an expert to do. The little we pay gives me peace of mind and I don't have to print out 30 pages of stuff. Done long ago and money in the bank.

@andriaperry This woman is a CPA who works in the Farm Bureau office. We had a very bad experience with one of those 'big name' tax prep guys years ago and always go the other route now.

Same here, I prefer a professional, a CPA and not one of those tax places.

Its good to hear that you have better tenants in your rentals. Hopefully this will be a profitable year for you. I just finished my taxes so that's one less thing to worry about

Mike did ours last week. We owed which is normal because of my business, paying social security taxes and what not. Good thing we didn't owe as much as last year.

@Dena91 I used to do that. Both and the mowing business made more and I liked it better.

We've done our taxes ourselves. It's pretty straight forward for us with regards to last year. We worked a little for others and that was pretty much it. So we did it ourselves to save a few bucks. We didn't want to pay someone to do it, if it was easier to do ourselves. Some places are just a rip off anyway. We did it last week. When we do ours next year it might be a little trickier, as I am working from home and technically self-employed, but I think we may still try to do it ourselves. I'll just have to keep track of everything I do and try and get as much info as I can.

We too have tax consultants who do our tax returns on a small fee.

I will probably finish our taxes this weekend. I did a preliminary run on them at the start of February but we still had a few bits of info we were waiting on.

I think you've made some good decisions. No point at all in renting to people who can't pay.
