Let's Discuss what does "DISCUSSION" mean to admins

Well, what actually "Discussion" means? Everyone understands a word (anything) as per his/her idea. If I ask you green you may think several shades of green. So what does "Discussion" mean? Especally by the Admins here. I have seen lot of discussions are there telling good morning or someone's daily routine where no one is related. (I have seen posts like "today I have cleaned fridge!" - What the hell should we do if you cleaned your fridge?? ) But those discussions are approved by admins, and sometimes commented by many users. Now, today I created a post related to favourite songs, to get some suggestion from people so that I can also listen them and let them know my view. No external link or copied material was used. There were multiple sentences so it is not short. Somehow, admin does not consider it as "DISCUSSION" and deleted. Hope senior members can tell me what actually a discussion is, at least in mylot. I asked google uncle to get the meaning of it, what it says - the action or process of talking about something in order to reach a decision or to exchange ideas. "the committee acts as a forum for discussion" a conversation or debate about a specific topic. plural noun: discussions "discussions about environmental improvement" synonyms: conversation, talk, dialogue, discourse, conference, debate, exchange of views, consultation, deliberation; a detailed treatment of a topic in speech or writing. "see Appendix One, for a more detailed discussion" synonyms: examination, exploration, analysis, study, review, scrutiny;

The guidelines need to be more specific. To be honest, after reading your original post below,I do agree that many discussions that stay up have less content than yours by far. You could easily rewrite it and to be sure of staying within the guidelines maybe ask why they like the song etc and maybe give a few examples of songs you like and why you like them. But I do agree with you and I'd be a bit pissed off too

I actually have no idea on what was wrong with your post. I did not come across it and most certainly won't as it had has been deleted. Have you refer to the guidelines to see whether you went against it? Here is the golden rule:
This is where you will find out what kinds of behavior are accepted and unaccepted on myLot. When in doubt, remember the Golden Rule!

I have gone through this many times. Any thing happens and many people refer this link. But there is nothing written that how many sentences (words ) or what should be considered as discussion.

First of all, I like the way you think as shown by this post. It shows me that you seem to really want to do what's right here in myLot, and you go an extra mile to learn things. Good job. Having said that... just a little nitpick on your title : we can't really be able to discuss what "discussion" means to admins - unless an admin him/herself comes here and responds to your post. We can all, however, give our OPINIONS of what the admins might think about discussions. So... what is my opinion? I would agree with JJ that your favorite songs post might have been seen by the admin as a poll instead of a discussion. I would think, however, that even a seemingly poll type post can be turned into a discussion somehow... Anyway, I also wanted to say that I, personally, get annoyed by those other posts you mentioned - just saying good morning everyday, mentioning what they did that day, etc. To me, myLot is not a journal or diary where you just post what happened to you per day... you have to do a little more than that and TURN your post into a discussion. And that's what I tell myself so that I can tolerate those types of posts - I give them the benefit of the doubt and try to see if there's something in the post that can be discussed. Like, yeah, you cleaned the fridge today, what do I care? Well, maybe in my response, I will ask what is the best way to clean a fridge anyway? Hopefully, that will turn the thing into a proper discussion.

@ichchhe_mrityu Ooh! Nice to know that the admin has responded to you in a very timely manner, even just to say he(/she?) will ask the moderator(s) about it.

@moirai yes even he/she is confused! And actually that was my point, what is discussion means to them. It should be clear to them first and then only users will understand.

Thank you for your explanation.. I had messgaed admin and they have come back with an answer as below - "I don't remember deleting that one, so it was likely removed by my moderator. I will ask them about it. I suppose it could have mistaken as a "poll", but it does seem to be a bit more. I am going to clarify the term for future reference though."

Well, ML, thanks to @JudyEv I have the discussion with me. As per my request she helps me to correct my English mistakes. And she had PMed me that. You can have a look and suggest me your favourite songs; also you can tell me whether it is a discussion or not! (This includes the suggestion from Judy in bracket) I haven't really listened to very many English songs. I have mostly listened (TO) Dylan, Beatles, Brian Adams, Backstreat Boys, and (here and there - delete) some other songs. Can you please tell me your 3 most favourite songs? No need for 'most' - just 'your 3 favourite songs' is enough but this is a very small error. I will listen (TO) those songs and will let you know my view.

@ichchhe_mrityu Sorry, I'm the wrong addressee. Music isn't my thing. I can't name my three most favourite songs.

@MALUSE Not a problem. But do you think this post has something to be deleted? Or should I start posting "I cooked Paratha today"

I am new over here and I am also bit confused with the guidelines. Some posts seems to get on and others might be deleted. And this is not right. As I have checked in one of your comments that only the posts which are reported gets checked. So there's the point. Perhapas some of the post even they do not meet the guidelines aren't reported and hence got through.
