How do you stay organized?

I just read a comment to one of my discussions - the commenter stated they were going to leave themselves a note so they wouldn't forget to do something. I do the same but now many of my notes are electronic. I have been blogging for about 6 years - I just closed down my old accounts and started fresh on Blogger. I have hundreds of posts with countless photographs and found I was losing track of what I had already written about. I created an Excel spreadsheet to track the date, title, URL and other statistics and that works quite well. I also wanted something that was a bit more portable and a place I could keep random notes, ideas, snippets, etc.... I decided to use Evernote and it has been great! I have the program running on my PC, I use the web app when I am in the office and I have the app for my Android phone. No matter where I am I have full access to all of my notes. I also keep all of the blog titles and URLs in Evernote so that I can give it to someone if they ask. I know there are a lot of other applications out there - both free and paid - and I would love to know what you use. btw - I have a free account with Evernote but they do have a premium account that gives you a lot more options.

I write to-do items on paper. What if the computer crashes?

The beauty of Evernote is that the notes are stored locally, on my computer, but on the server. The chances of a total meltdown of their system and backups are rather slim. I also believe there may be a local copy on my PC, just in case but I would have to check on that.

I write myself notes all the time. I used to always forget to look at the notes and would forget to do things but I am getting better at checking things off the list each day.

I've been there, too.... I do find that many times the act of writing a note makes me remember to do something and I actually never need the note.

@WanderPhotog That happens when I write a shopping list and then forget it at home. The act of writing helps me remember the items.

Right now I just try and keep track in a Notebook etc and then search it from time to time if I need more information or is it something I have wrote about or could write about. I have heard of Evernote but not checked it out yet.

I used to keep multiple notebooks, both large and pocket-size, based upon what they contained. I had photography, writing, work, etc.... The problem was that they would get beat up and I couldn't easily find something. Evernote is great.

When it comes to notes, I'm still old-school. I have scraps of paper all over my desk, with ideas, passwords, and to-do lists. The problem is, I usually can't find what I need when I need it! I really need to get more organized.

Connie - I still use paper and pen for quick notes but then transcribe them to Evernote when I get a chance. I can often have a half-dozen stuffed in my pants pocket and another few in my wallet. They often end up a mess and sometimes get thrown out without being read.
