Why do people laugh or cry?

I always wonder when I see people cry while the event going on is joyous and laugh while the event happening is of mourning what really happens?
Another ambiguity is when someone is laughing but tears are coming out like rain drops..please help!

When anything exceeds the limits the real purpose turns to take a different and opposite shape. This is the main reasons. When we laugh heavily the drops fall out from our eyes giving totally different meaning as if we are weeping.
