Which hearing aids work the best and would you recommend them?

I have hearing lose in both ears. Regular hearing aids are expensive. There are all kinds of commericals for inexpensive hearing aids. Some of them turn out to be junk. Does anyone have an inexpensive that works and that you would recommend? I know that you can't trust product "reviews" on their websites because some are reportedly written by employees. How about the expensive kind, which one works the best?
