Does Driving with Lights on even during the day, say on a bright sunny day, will it have any effect on accident? I personally feel that it should not be interconnected. What is you guys opinion? And what could be the reason for this?

During the day when it sunny and clear I don't see it having an effect on driving. If it is dark, about to get dark, the sun is about to come up, raining, fog, etc. then the lights should be on. It might not help the person driving but it helps other drivers see each other. I have been driving back to school which is in the mountains and the fog gets really really really thick up here. I almost hit someone because they didn't have their lights on and the fog was so thick that you couldn't see their car until you were right up on them. The fog was so thick that day that you couldn't even see traffic light or signs. Most newer cars have the lights turn on automatically when the vehicle is turned on.

@subhajitsil6 I don't see the point of them for during the day but I don't see anything wrong with having them on during the day either. I think having the car automatically do it when it is getting dark outside a good thing because some people forget to turn them on or just don't care which can be dangerous for other drivers. Have them on in the middle of the day doesn't really affected anything so I don't see the problem with it. For me, it is just a safety thing because in American not many care about that anymore. We don't have good drivers here at all.

Lighting up in fog makes senses but in a sunny weather it doesn't. And very soon our Government might make this mandatory, I don't know what for. yeah and soon the cars and bikes which will be manufactured will have this auto light turn on facility even in our country also.

@CaseyRoss9966 I am not saying that keeping the lights on would be a problem or anything, Even I don't have any problem with it, and perhaps from April 1, this is becoming mandatory in our country, What I meant is doing things unnecessarily or without significant reason is something which I don't like.

In my country there is no choice for that you have to drive with lights on or you might get a fine if police see you. So for me it's more easy to see if a car is on and I notice if I see somebody driving lights off (even in day time) it's just disturbing. I know some countries don't use lights in day time but I'm already use to it but not sure if it reduces accidents... Maybe if it's not sunny

Thank You so much for your comment. Even in our country very soon this rules might going to start. But, like you I am also not sure as to how it reduces the accident and so I opened this discussion. I feel in broad daylight a person who is unable to see cars won't either give a look to them even if the headlights are turned on.
