beauty and the beast

Don't get your knickers in a twist, but this isn't about the live action Disney film which is currently in cinemas. Nope, this is about the stunning sunset I spied on the way home this evening. She was beautiful, dressed in amazing colours and patiently succumbing to the demands of Night and his friend, Moon. And the beast of this tale? At about quarter to ten this evening there was a loud bang. The first thought through my pretty little head was that the chap next door was having his house brutalised again. A look through the window showed our neighbours also looking for the source, but neither of us discovered what it was. I suppose it could have been a car backfiring, or may have been a gunshot. I wouldn't know what a gunshot sounded like though, and there seemed to be no vehicle haphazardly speeding away into the distance. Life ... it's such a mystery.

I hate when it happens, but the odd thing is that we heard a loud bang two nights in a row and my niece heard the same, 150 Km from here.

@Poppylicious i hope that your neighbour is fine. And as it is if something would have happened you would have known about it. Have you not tried to ask to others in your surrounding about the noise

Thank you. I haven't seen or heard my next door neighbour since the noise ... I'm getting a bit worried, but not too much. :)

@Nawsheen No, I'm not keen on talking to people. I'll just enjoy the mystery!

Now I will have to spend the rest of the evening getting my knickers unknotted. I do wonder what the mystery bang you heard was.

I fear we will never know. *sigh* I did wake up this morning and think Sonic Boom! but it didn't sound as though it came from above.

@Poppylicious We occasionally hear and feel rumbles in our area when there are no storms about. No one seems to know what is causing them. Some people think it is happening underground due to the depletion of the aquifer and some day a giant sinkhole is going to open up and swallow a big chunk of the county.

@DWDavis I'm 99% sure this didn't come from underground. Sinkholes are scary!
