Roses

For unknown reasons roses have a prominent place in gardens. My experience in growing roses did not give me much joy. Roses need food at regular intervals, They need to be trimmed, the dead wood removed and watched for false shoots. Watering needs to be done cautiously neither too much nor too little. When there are a host of flowers that need little attention and still provide enough joy to a gardener wonder why we still hanker after them just as I do. I keep replacing dead rose plants knowing they are a pain. The collage tells a story. Do you have roses in your garden and what has been your experience?

@allknowing I have the opinion that roses need to be cared for like we care for babies. Not very easy. The roses in the photos are nice.

@silvermist I will try and get them back. Roses need a lot of my time and I do not have such time for them.

In my experience, roses are very hard to kill. I've seen them flowering around ruins of houses that were abandoned years ago.

In certain countries and even here in India in Kashmir due to cool weather such situations can prevail. Lucky you.

I have some wild roses in the garden. I love seeing them. I am looking for black roses but to no avail. I am fascinated with the color black.
