The Very Unprofessional Post

The picture with this, is the print screen of the shout-out of my officemate who was reprimanded by the SVP for Finance in our company. She was reprimanded by her because a contract of their affiliate who is now a tenant of the mall, has been for 6 months not yet notarized. Hence we cannot bill them yet. Thus, she posted the said shout-out in her FB account. Immediately , my co-auditor called me on the phone and told me about it. I was shocked that she posted something like that. And we know to whom it was directed. So, I called her and told her to delete it immediately or she will be in hot water when the bosses saw it. She was crying already in her desk before I called her. That’s because she knows the implication of her post and she saw the Accounting department huddled together and were looking at her. She deleted it, however a print screen has already been made by my co-auditor and the leasing assistant told me that she will be resigning. Please share your views.

Of she should resign, she couldn't control herself and that was very unprofessional of her. It's worst though if she has a family, she probably didn't realize what she was doing because it was out of anger and frustration.

she will be reprimanded and who knows, she might be terminated. well, resigning before being terminated is already a good act by the management, and she can still have her benefits, but when terminated, i think she will leave with practically nothing at all.

That is so true. Resigning can still make her get the benefits than beiñg terminated. That is why she said she is resgning because she fears that the print screen made by my co-auditor will be shown to the SVP, who is our boss in the audit team.

@ridingbet when she said she will be resigning because she fears it will be shown to the SVP , i did a heart to heart talk to my co-auditor, not to show it . And that she talk with the girl , because the girl is so fearful of her and would resign . So, she did that . I really also scare her too that if the girl will resign , that will also be her fault. So, she talked with her and the girl went home relieved. But she was told that she should never ever post like that ever.

@SIMPLYD but it will be real bad because you mentioned that a staff has already downloaded the post, which would mean that the SVP might see that anyway. it is therefore not good to talk some things unimaginable and not analyzing and realizing the consequences it may bring to yourself.what if the SVP will not accept her resignation but instead terminate her? still, no benefits.

Just as the saying,"wash one's dirty linen at home."She shouldn't have let off steam on FB where few people know all about it.

Besides, it is not the professional thing to do that. That post could put her in hot water. Good thing I talk to the one who had a print screen of it, not to show it anymore to the SVP. Then, I let her talk to the girl and assure her that her having deleted it, she won't show it to the SVP anymore.

@changjiangzhibin89 We are auditors, but we have also a heart that understands a heart filled with anger for being humiliated by a boss.

@SIMPLYD You two are kind-hearted deleting the print screen so that shielded her from blame.

That's really an unprofessional act. Whatever the grievances are? They don't need to be this way.

Yes, she just posted to vent out her feelings not envisioning that it will put her in a shameful situation that can cause her to lose her job. I was able to talk with my co-auditor because it was already deleted after I told her the implications it could get her into. But who knows , from the other who have seen it , could spread it by word and reach my boss, even if she haven't seen it yet.

@SIMPLYD It is such a stupid thing to vent on Facebook. You know it could be that someone jealous took a print screen just to damage her. People should think twice before posting on public social media.

What in the world was she thinking? You have to be careful what you put out there on social media. It will come back and bite you in the butt like this will her.

Indeed. She was frantic when i told her that it has to be deleted, before other officemates will see and tell the boss about it.

Fb is not a diary. If you make it as public post, soon everyone will see. Even if it's not and shared just among friends, eventually it will still leak to public. She should really knows that. It's common sense!

Precisely. It was too late when she finally realized the consequence of what she has done. She decided to resign for fearthatthe screen shot of her post before it was deleted would be shown to the SVP.

if she's not connected to any officemates on fb, would any of you still be able to see that post? i think with social media, (fb, twitter, etc) a lot of people forget that there are many readers who are quick to screencap what they post so it serves as evidence that they really "said" it online.

But she is connected to the employees . Maybe she did that in the thought that no one will make a big fuzz about it. But since we know what happened we know who she is trying to mean, which she admitted that it's the SVP indeed who reprimanded her.m

Precisely. Well, it's her first job and she's so young , 22 year old. . But that doesn't mean she doesn't have a common sense to think that it could put her in hot waters.

She obviously isn't very smart and a child. Seriously she didn't even spell the swear words correctly. Now my question is what were they doing checking her facebook page?

Yes, that is true. This is actually her first job. But then, common sense will tell us that such kind of post, which is obviously about someone of higher position, can really put us in hot water. Actually, it's lunch break for one hour. After taking lunch for a few minutes, the employees are free to be at Facebook. Since they are officemates , they all can see their officemates and friends' posts and they saw that new one.
