No longer an ex..? Hmmm

I have been dying to see the new Beauty and the Beast movie ever since I saw the teaser trailer for it. Luckily I finally have someone to watch my son so me and the hubby can go on Monday (yay!) My best friend and her boyfriend (my ex) wanted to double date and unfortunately it just didn't work out that way with work schedules and what not. So I told him he should be more happy now that he gets the alone time with her. They haven't been dating too long and I know he would probably like more alone time with her, but she's more of a group person. He basically told me if that was the case he wouldn't have invited me and my husband along to double. Apparently he sees me more of a good friend now and not as an ex anymore. I think that's a good thing...? Hmmm... Does that mean our past is pretty much erased since we are both happy and moved on? He said he will never forget our past, but of course that is where it should be left. I agree, but I still see him as my ex. Mainly I guess because he was the 1 that broke my heart all those years ago and I don't really think we would even be this close of friends if he hadn't started to date my best friend. I was fine not being friends with him for those 6 years me and my best friend weren't speaking lol. But then me and her got close again and thus so did they, so he's in my life weather I like it or not. He is not a bad guy anymore. He has changed a lot and I am glad he has and that he makes her happy. Sometimes I feel it may just be a little harder for me to be friends with him because of how we ended. He gets along well with my husband and our group of friends though. Go figure lol. So I am basically trying not to create waves and just go with the flow fore my friend's sake.

I would have hard time being friends with an ex. I think I would always look at them that way. I think because he was the one who hurt you that he finds it easier to move on and let it in the past.

That's how I feel too. When we broke up, I just knew I had to move on and I did and am happy. We tried the friends thing to start and it didn't work out well at all and now suddenly he wants to be all buddy buddy with me because hes dating my best friend. I'm just trying to keep the peace I guess and not make trouble because I don't really want to lose my best friend, so I just accept it I guess. Personally I was better off without him in my life. Didn't stress me out near as much lol

@DanieGirl80587 I can understand that. It would be an awkward situation to be in.
